Tip of the Week: Political Realities

John Kelly - Tuesday, July 03, 2012

By John Kelly, CEO, Bluegrass Business Media
We all knew it was coming: the media storm of opinions, second-guesses and forecasts surrounding last week’s Supreme Court decision to uphold the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Mix a monumental change that affects virtually every citizen in some way with a presidential election year and the table is set for a political smorgasbord.

But somewhere amidst the rhetoric and the scrutiny, the arguments and conjecture, a few voices were pleading to simply move forward. The deck has been shuffled. Let’s pick up our cards. It’s game on.

The IDN Summit and Reverse Expo is designed to help you do just that. Will you hear plenty of informed opinions on Healthcare Reform provisions and other issues? Of course. But it doesn’t stop there.

The education program developed by the IDN Summit Advisory Board is designed to build upon informed opinions on Healthcare Reform and other issues impacting our industry to the next stage of offering you insight, examples, experiences and the latest research on how you can best manage your part of the healthcare supply chain given the political, regulatory and consumer-driven hand that you’ve been dealt.

While the Supreme Court ruling is now known, there will continue to be no shortage of political forums and opinion panels offered on Healthcare Reform. But your IDN Summit and Reverse Expo experience can provide you with both the latest legislative and regulatory information as well as the kind of practical advice you can take back home and put to work at your own healthcare organization or company.

Each IDN Summit is built around a theme that encompasses the state of the industry and the trends that affect it. With an eye to the direction healthcare is moving, this fall’s event focuses on Patient Driven Decisions.

The 2012 Fall IDN Summit will be held Sept. 11 – 13 at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix. This is a challenging, but exciting, time to be in the healthcare industry and the conference agenda reflects that. I hope you will take advantage of all the IDN Summit has to offer as we take a close up look at how focusing on the patient experience is shaping the supply chain.

You will have the opportunity to hear from some of the most knowledgeable opinion leaders in our industry. At the same time, your IDN Summit experience will provide you with plenty of practical advice on how to succeed with the realities of your day-to-day operations. I look forward to seeing you there.

"We always recommend the IDN Summit meetings as a 'top show' for networking opportunities. The chance to work with such a large audience of high level decision-makers in one setting allows for a quick assimilation into the corporate account arena and provides strategic opportunities for any supplier. It is also a great occasion to stay close to the issues affecting healthcare delivery and a venue to be involved in improving them."

"There hasn’t been a more important time for CEOs to be engaged in the healthcare supply chain than now. Balancing the need to be technologically advanced with the need to maintain solid financial footing means that leaders have to examine their supply chain as an integral part of system strategy. What I want to accomplish at the IDN Summit, and beyond, is to get the right kind of dialogue going with the right people."
