Frequently Asked Questions

How does our IDN or healthcare system compete?
  • Identify a quantifiable supply chain improvement during 2010-2011 involving efficiencies in time and/or cost savings that directly impacts the quality of patient care.
  • Complete the online application and submit it, along with required supporting materials, by November 28, 2011. Only 10 submissions will be accepted per size in each of three health system/facility size categories (1-999 beds, 1000-2999 beds, and >3000 beds) and in the new regional purchasing coalition category.
What is the “Peer Review Process?”

The “Peer Review Process” is defined as follows:

  • Following submission of a completed application, the IDN Summit Education Advisory Board will review the entrant's application to ensure that all answers and criteria for the self-audit have been completed. Entrants for each category will be posted online for voting in the “Peer Review Process” beginning December 5, 2011. Voting closes January 30, 2012.
  • Based on the online voting, the top vote-getter in each of the four categories will be named the national winner for that category, and posted to the IDN Summit and Expo website on or about February 7th. In the event of a tie, the IDN Summit Education Advisory Board will determine the category winner.
How are the entries judged?

Criteria for judging shall be defined as follows:

  • A submission by an entrant must support innovation and improvement in technology, work flow, product flow, contracting decision, and/or processes involving efficiencies in time or cost savings that directly relate to quality of patient care.
  • Higher scores will be given to current cutting-edge initiatives within IDNs or healthcare systems that can be adopted most readily by other IDNs or healthcare systems across the U.S. with expectations of achieving similar positive results and efficiencies.
  • A Supply Chain of Excellence Awards Evaluation Score Sheet is availlable for downoad here.
How is voting conducted?
  • The applicants receiving the most total votes in each of the four categories through the online voting process will be declared the category winners.
  • The national winner of each category will present twice to their peers at the 2012 Spring IDN Summit & Expo, once as a 50-minute presentation/Q&A during the breakout session on April 24th and then as a 10-minute presentation during the general session on April 25th.
  • Attendees to the 2012 Spring IDN Summit will then have the opportunity to vote for an overall national winner from among the category winners. This voting will be conducted at the Spring IDN Summit.
  • Please note only current senior hospital and health system executives are eligible to vote online and at the Spring IDN Summit. Titles eligible to vote may include: C suite executives, EVPs, VPs, directors and senior managers of supply chain or other departments. Voters may not vote for submissions from their own facility/health system.
